CCG - the first Curly studfarm in Germany
On a trip across the Crow Indian Reservation in Montana, USA in 1996, I met the American Curly Horse and learned to know and love it. This horse was completely unknown in Germany back
then. As a photojournalist, specialized on horse subjects, I started to research the Curly Horse and visited the best known Curly Horse breeders in Montana and the Dakotas. I took plenty of photographs of these unusual
horses.
But pictures and articles seemed not enough to me. I was so amazed by the gentle and calm
temperament, that I decided to get my own Curly Horses. Together with my friend and partner Donna Vickery I started to breed them on the Crow Reservation in Montana and in february 1997 I imported the first Curly Horse to Germany. I introduced the rare horse to the public and started the first breed in Germany.
The Crow Curly Horse Ranch in Aichhalden
June 2003 we found the perfect place for
breeding, training and riding Curly Horses. The pastures of the Crow Curly Horse Ranch in the beautiful Black Forest
(Southwest Germany) are the home of a first quality herd of Curly Horses.

For my journalistic work and to look for more good Curly Horses I decided to spend part of my time in the USA. What could be better than one of the original locations of the Curly Horses - the Crow Reservation in Montana. On the Working Guest Ranch of my very good friends, the Falls Down family, I opened up a second location. |
Our philosophy
The Curly Horse was created by natural selection in the wild, not by human designed breeding
standards. That is why they retained the traits of primitive horses that are important for
survival, such as intelligence, durability and soundness.
We breed Western type Curly Horse for leisure riders as well as riders with competing
ambitions. Our goal is a an allround saddle horse that retains the natural traits of its primitive
anchestors.
